Edition number two of this written segment inspired by Ryen Rusillo. For starters, I went to the Virginia Tech vs. Rutgers game, so there will not be as many notes from the college football games. As for that game, it was a good time, but it is two near bottom teams in their leagues, so it was not high quality football. I think overall, this was just a really fluky week with how bad top teams played versus lower competition. I would not look too much into it, but lets get into the college football games first.
Tennessee vs. Florida- Not to brag, but I saw this coming a mile away. This UT team will win a bunch of games, but QB Joe Milton is a clear dropoff from Hendon Hooker. As for Florida, I still think this is a bowl team but not much more, but I will say QB Graham Mertz impressed.
Pittsburgh vs. West Virginia- Man, Pitt might just be bad. I thought last week was some sort of a fluke with their loss versus Cincinnati, but that offense is unwatchable. I have been a Phil Jurkovec fan for a while, but he has looked worse and worse from what he was a few years ago. As for WVU, does that move the needle for Neal Brown? I don't think so. Seat is still red hot.
Fresno State vs. Arizona State- I put them in the first edition of this, and I will continue with what I said then, which was how much fun Fresno State is. Mikey Keene at QB is electric, and they are just a really well coached team. As for ASU, its a clear rebuilding year for year one HC Kenny Dillingham. Unfortunately star freshman QB Jaden Rashada will be out for a while, so I expect a few more very uncompetitive games.
Colorado vs. Colorado State- Oh boy, here we go. Was it worth it for us east coasters to stay up for all of this? I doubt it. Either way, this was certainly entertaining to say the least. For some people this Colorado win moves the needle for them (?), this did not impress me. I am a little concerned the hype train is going too fast right now. Oregon and USC are a huge level up from who they have played so far. I think the offense continues to go even without Hunter for a few weeks, but man that defense is gonna get torched by Caleb Williams. Also, massive props to CSU, WR Tory Horton is an absolute dude. Anyway, lets get to the NFL slate.
Bills vs. Raiders- Media post MNF was full of some really funny overreactions on the Bills. Dominated what looks like might not be a terrible Raiders team. Not worried about them, in the regular season at least.
Ravens vs. Bengals- Burrow very clearly was not 100% as he was a statue in the pocket the first two weeks, and now he re-injured his calf. Just not really sure why the Bengals did that. Ravens look very good so far, they just have got to eventually be healthy right?
Chiefs vs. Jaguars- Why isn't Doug Pederson calling plays? Don't really understand it. In their defense, I'm not sure it would be a lot better, with how terrible their blocking has been. Chiefs will be fine, but they have not been impressive at all.
Chargers vs. Titans- Not trying to be mean, but I don't have a lot here. Herbert is awesome (if you think otherwise I don't trust you) and Staley is probably the first coach to get fired. Titans will not go anywhere with Tannehill under center. All I got.
Packers vs. Falcons- Falcons may be...good? I am not sold on Ridder yet, but he certainly has shown enough to have some belief. Packers are somehow already injured to hell but Love continues to impress.
Seahawks vs. Lions- First of all, should have been holding on Seattle on their game winning touchdown. Honestly, this result doesn't show me much. These are two pretty good teams that will definitely be in the hunt in December.
Colts vs. Texans- These two teams stink, but it looks like they both hit on their QB selections. Anthony Richardson has been electric when he has been on the field, but has now left both games due to injury. CJ Stroud has been awesome, especially considering his lack of protection and just the overall situation in Houston. He has impressed me a ton.
Bears vs. Buccaneers- My goodness is Chicago a nightmare right now. You know its bad when everyone is getting blamed, and they are all at fault. The defense cannot rush the passer, but lets focus on the offense. The playcalling from OC Luke Getsy has been unbelievable and not in a good way. The offensive line has been not good, and then there is Justin Fields. He seems scared to throw the ball? When he is ripping in rythym he still looks good. Also, he is the best running QB in the league, and the Bears have not called designed QB runs for him. Make it make sense. As for the Bucs, I thought they were probably the third best team coming into the year, but Baker has looked really good. They don't need a lot of wins to win this division, so they could be the team that emerges.
Giants vs. Cardinals- Cardinals suck, Giants are not very good, even though they looked good in the second half. Still not a Daniel Jones fan.
49ers vs. Rams- I don't think the Rams are bad? Also, I still don't know how to feel about Purdy. But I don't think it will really matter, as their roster is just better than most.
Broncos vs. Commanders- I am still a sucker. I still believe in the Broncos. But they might just suck forever with Russ. Also, how about those Commanders? 2-0! I don't think it means a whole lot, but good for them.
Cowboys vs. Jets- Cowboys might be the best team in football for the regular season. Have to prove it in the playoffs. As for the Jets, I still have faith in Zach Wilson (I know crazy) but to just game manage them to playoff contention.
That is all I got for this week, I know its only quick hitters for each game, but I still have school to do.
